Responding to the demand by mass merchants for tighter security in packaged media, Clear-Vu Products and Viva Magnetics are jointly unveiling a single-use, impenetrable case design under the brand name "One-time."TM The announcement was made here at the 2003 Source Tagging Council Annual Conference.

"The Zenith ONE-Time Internal Locking System is a paradigm in packaging and the culmination of our many years mastering state-of-the-art, theft-proof solutions for multimedia merchandise," said Michael Lax, executive chairman of Clear-Vu Products and an industrial engineer who holds numerous patents. He was a featured speaker at the Source Tagging Council conference and also hosted a high-level, invitation-only presentation for the industry’s most prominent thought leaders.

In the ONE-Time strategic partnership, unique to the secure package industry, Clear-Vu controls ONE-Time designs, patents, development and marketing. Viva Magnetics, the worlds largest optical media packaging company is exclusive worldwide licensee of Clear-Vu for the manufacture and distribution of ONE-Time DVD cases.

Viva is ramping up to a daily output of 1 million cases for ONE-Time by August 2003.

Clear-Vus Michael Lax pointed out that shrinkage costs U.S. retailers more than $100 million a day in stolen merchandise. At the same time, he added, "stores must move high-touch, impulse purchases such as media out from behind glass and into live-sell displays to stimulate grab-and-go sales. Our ONE-Time design allows stores to do that with the utmost confidence that shrinkage will be reduced below the radar, and profits will be preserved."

Now in its 30th year, VIVA will produce ONE-Time DVD cases for U.S. sales at its Toronto, Canada location, where it is erecting a second plant to double capacity in 2003 to 1.2 billion cases a year. VIVA counts among its customers virtually all the major optical media replicators.
